FOUNDER
Growing up outside of Houston in Katy Texas, my first job was cleaning the for sale/sold signs from our local home builder who was building in our new neighborhood. That experience introduced me to the process of residential construction. I thought it was so cool how all the parts and pieces went together and how the framers took2x4’s and turn them into a house you could live in. I was able to identify each floor plan that the Builder was building before they even poured the concrete foundation.
After graduating from college I took a Construction manager position with a production Home Builder back in Houston. Building tract homes provided great experience learning the process of building a house. I fell in love with working outside and building homes that start out as nothing more than an empty lot.
After building homes for a few years, I got into commercial construction, working on a 32 story high rise in downtown Houston, then spent the next 6 years as a project manager for a heavy highway contractor working on public infrastructure projects throughout Texas. I ended up in Austin, as a project engineer on the Manor Expressway. A 6 mile stretch of US290 in NE Ausitn. After that project was finished, I had an opportunity that I felt I couldn’t pass up, and launched Oakman Building Company during the Summer of 2014. We started building a new custom home in West Austin and never looked back.
Today we focus on new construction and whole house remodels in Central Austin, working with the top architects in town. I love coming to work each day and getting to work on these projects with our subcontractors and suppliers. It makes it all worth it when we get to bring a client into their new home and to see their face and how excited they are.
