The Ruth Avenue Residence recently received a new lease on life for a growing family in central Austin. The couple purchased the property with the desire to transform a neglected 1950’s ranch home on a beautiful large corner lot with significant heritage trees. Taken down to studs, the original home was doubled in size to provide the needed space. The greatest transformation, however, was the experience within the home. While before the home was dim and closed in, the renovation is airy and bright, yet warm. Little artificial light is required during daytime due to the bouncing of the natural light allowed in through the expansive RAM windows. The black windows contrast to the white paint throughout, and the thin window profiles allow the “farmhouse” style to be brought into the modern era. The thin profile of the large windows also allow the residents to maximize the experience of their property while within the home.
